Welcome to Tipton County's website. We hope you find our site easy to use and it greatly assists you in your business with Tipton County.

At this site you can research information on your property including property tax and related information. There are also answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Basic property tax information is as follows:

Tipton County Property Tax 2005 rate $2.85 @ $100 Assessed Value.

1. A tax notice is mailed to the January 1st owner during the last week in September. Taxpayers are welcome to pick up their tax notice at any time.

2. City taxes are not collected in the Trustee's Office - Please make inquiries directly to the City offices. Tipton County has no additional school tax. The following city office numbers are provided for your convenience:

3. Property taxes become due the first Monday in October, giving 5 months to pay without penalty through February 28, becoming delinquent on March 1. Penalty & Interest accrues at 1.5% on the first day of each month beginning March 1. (Penalty and Interest are rounded to the nearest dollar).

4. Paying agents and/or mortgage companies may request a tax notice from the taxpayer or from the Property Assessment Division in Nashville. Information is also available on the website link shown in item eight. Terminals for inquiry are available in the Trustee's Office, Room 203, second floor of the courthouse. Our office is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday except on holidays. 

5. Remittances must show the control map, group, and parcel numbers for which each payment is being made. Tipton County assessor office telephone 901-476-0213 or go to the website

6. Refunds are issued on parcels already paid by another agency; however, refunds will not be issued for any other reason.


7. File format for diskette remittances is available from Local Government Processing Center, 714 Armstrong Lane, Columbia, TN 38401 – Telephone 931-381-1155. Be sure to name the file properly.

8. The Tipton County Trustee's Office offers online payment of property taxes. Please visit The Tipton County Tennessee Trustee Site for more information.

9. You can now pay property taxes by bank draft.  There are three options available.  Call our office for more detailed information

10. Partial payments may be made on the taxes due in Trustee's office. Four equal payments may be made. However, penalty and interest will be added to the balance if paid after the February 28th deadline. If you choose to pay online, payment must be paid in full.

11. Taxes are collected at Munford City Hall from October through February. Collection of taxes will take place on Wednesdays beginning the first Wednesday in October after you receive your tax notice through Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Hours are from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Out to lunch from 12-1:00pm.
