Covington-Tipton
County Emergency Management Agency
The Covington-Tipton
County Emergency Management Agency was created jointly by
the City of Covington and the County of Tipton in 1972 for
the purpose of developing plans and procedures that would
provide the most effective and efficient coordination of resources
available in the mitigation of, planning and preparedness
for, response to and recovery from emergencies and disasters.
The agency
is also responsible for helping prepare the citizens of Tipton
County to deal with emergencies and their consequences. This
web page is one of the ways this is accomplished. Please use
the links provided on this page to better understand what
kinds of emergencies might affect you and your family, and
use it as a tool to help prepare for the challenges that will
be imposed upon you when disaster strikes.

2009 H1NI FLU INFORMATION
As flu season approaches, be informed on symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus and learn healthy hygiene tips. Here are some things you can do to prepare or know this flu season:
- Stay informed. This website will be updated regularly as information becomes available.
- Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
- Take everyday actions to stay healthy.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
- Stay home if you get sick. CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
- Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.
- Find healthy ways to deal with stress and anxiety.
- Call 1-800-CDC-INFO for more information.
