Tipton County Museum Announces Events -
Tipton County Museum Honoring a Different Veteran Each Month in 2015 - Beginning January 2015, the Tipton County Museum, in partnership with the Tipton County Veterans Council, will select from nominations a military veteran to honor. A reception will be held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM at the museum, to recognize that month’s selected veteran. Along with family and friends, the public will be invited to attend and express their appreciation to our veterans. In addition to a small exhibit focusing on the chosen veteran, the honoree will receive a certificate of honor and a small gift. Nomination forms are available at the museum or may be downloaded here. Refreshments will be served.
Our Conference Room is available for rent! It seats 45 people comfortably and is available for family reunions, business meetings, weddings, baby showers, etc. It rents for just $50 an hour, with a $100 refundable deposit. Please call the Museum at (901) 476-0242 for availability.
Gioiello is now open! Gioiello means “jewel” in Italian, and it certainly is a jewel of a gift shop! It is filled with handmade items from over 16 Tipton County Artists, including paintings, jewelry, soap, books, photographs, cards, woodcarving, etc. Gioiello is open during Museum hours: Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please stop in often, as we are getting in new items regularly! Your purchases support local artists and programs and exhibits at the Museum. Museum Members receive a 10% discount.
Don’t forget our Nature Center! Our grounds are always beautiful, but they are extra gorgeous in the spring. The Tipton County Master Gardeners will soon be redoing the herb garden, so make sure you don’t miss it! Thanks to the Tipton County Master Gardeners we have a beautiful hosta bed that will soon be blooming as well. We appreciate all the support of the Master Gardeners. Our Nature Center is open during daylight hours, 7 days a week. We do have a scenic picnic area available, too.
