Sheriff's Office Seeking Additional Information & Offering Reward in Two Incidents

The first incident occurred around 2:00am when the Sheriff’s Office received a call of a one vehicle MVC in the 100 block of Randolph Rd, near the intersection of Hwy. 59W.  Two juveniles were involved in the crash where their pickup truck left the roadway and collided with a tree.  Deputies later learned that the driver had suffered a gunshot wound, which was determined to be a major contributing factor in the crash.  According to the juveniles, there was vehicle that came up behind them and began shooting.

The second incident occurred less than a mile down the road from the shooting, around 4:45am when deputies received a call of a house fire in the 15000 block of Hwy 59W.  Information was received that an individual was trapped inside the home and the home was fully engulfed.  Fire personnel from Gilt Edge, Covington, Munford and Quito Fire Departments made the scene to aid in extinguishing the fire.  While fighting the fire, first responders discovered the body of Joseph A. Roman (81).  Fire investigators from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to assist in investigating the cause of the fire. Tipton County Medical Examiner Dr. Buffy Cook was contacted and an autopsy was subsequently requested.  The autopsy has revealed that Roman was murdered prior to the fire.
