Atoka Tree Lighting in Adkison Park
When: Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7p.m.
What: The annual tree lighting features live music from the Atoka Elementary Honors Choir as well as hot cocoa and cookies, a lot of lights, a visit from Santa and a little bit of snow. Santa leads the countdown and lights the tree. Guests are asked to park at Nancy Lane Park and use the free shuttle to Adkison Park.

Keep Tradition Alive and Drive Through Christmas City
When: Nov 28 through Dec 26
Drive through a half-mile of lights and displays showing the story of the Nativity and Jesus’s life. Located at 3065 Candy Lane in Burlison, Christmas City has been a Tipton County tradition since 1983. Visitors can drive through the campground from 5:30-10 p.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (and Christmas Eve, which is a Monday this year) or visit with Santa, take a train ride and have concessions on a renovated bus on Friday and Saturday nights (through Dec. 22). There’s no charge for admission, but donations are accepted.

See ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ at The Ruffin
When: Nov. 30-Dec. 9
Based on the 1946 play of the same name, the play will bring frustrated businessman George Bailey to The Ruffin stage as he and his angel, Clarence, see what life would have been like if Bailey didn’t exist. Featuring a cast of local talent, the run will have 7 p.m. showtimes on Friday and Saturday evenings and 2:30 p.m. showtimes on Sundays. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at ruffin.theater.

Watch a Parade
Don’t miss the upcoming Christmas parades. Mason and Munford kick it off with parades at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, on Saturday, Dec. 1, Brighton follows at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 and Covington’s will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Want to participate in the parade? Contact city halls for more information. Please note most parades no longer allow candy to be thrown from vehicles.

Have Breakfast with Santa
The big guy’s getting around – several organizations are hosting breakfast with Santa this year. Visit him from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Munford Parks and Recreation (cost is $10 per child for breakfast and a craft, $5 per adult meal); from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Garland Community Center (cost is $4 which includes pancakes, a gift and photo); or from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Covington Assembly of God Church (cost is $5 for 5 and under, $6 for 6 and up, which includes breakfast, a craft and photo with Santa).

Have Cookies with Santa
When: Friday, Dec. 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Where: The Manor at Mt. Carmel, Covington
Enjoy a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and support the Go Lucy Go Foundation. Cost is $30 per family which includes hot cocoa, cookies and a 4x6” photo.

Go Back to Victorian times
When: Saturday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. to p.m.
Spend a day in Charles Dickens’ style Christmas during this annual shopping event on the square. Merchants will be dressed in their finest Victorian garb and event goers will enjoy shopping, refreshments, Santa and more.

Catch Santa As He Rides Through Atoka
When: Thursday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 14
Santa is back for another year of cruising through Atoka’s subdivisions on the back of the fire engine! The two-day tour ends with cookies and hot cocoa with Santa on Friday night at fire station #1. Photos with Santa are also free.
